Building Population and Personal Health

PROMOTING HEALTHY COMMUNITIES

We want to promote healthy communities by removing barriers and building bridges that will help everyone pursue better health.

We are expanding access to prevention programs that are aimed at lowering the incidence of chronic problems, including diabetes, heart disease and tobacco use.  We are spotlighting local exercise programs, wellness efforts and healthy eating campaigns.

So that neighborhoods can have safe and vibrant places to share information, interact and strengthen social ties, we are expanding and promoting the County’s ‘Parks After Dark ‘ evening recreation programs.

A prime goal of the Health Agency’s community-based campaign is to reduce youth violence by expanding opportunities for healthy activities and promoting school programs that provide social, medical and behavioral support for at-risk youth.

By encouraging the use of local resources and Health Agency clinical services, we aim to help residents align their personal health goals with practices that improve collective health outcomes.
